Democratic consultant Paul Begala wise-cracked that a Donald Trump supporter who gave him a kiss during CNN’s live Iowa caucuses coverage Monday night “may be a future trophy wife.”
While providing color commentary for the network’s coverage of the Republican caucus, Begala observed that Trump, a “noted germaphobe,” was getting up close and personal with the Iowa crowd, but with one caveat.
“He ain’t pressing the flesh. Donald Trump is a noted germaphobe, he can’t stand to shake hands, yet he’s leading as a politician in Iowa,” Begala, an advisor for the pro-Hillary Clinton super PAC Priorities USA and former adviser to Bill Clinton, said.
CNN’s Anderson Cooper responded: “Somebody just kissed him, so I don’t know how he feels about it.”
“That could be a future trophy wife, we don’t know,” Begala cracked.
The rest of CNN’s panel responded by booing the remark.
“He is very successful with the ladies,” Begala tried to explain.
Watch the exchange, captured by TPM:
While we shouldn’t put this past the Donald, this does seem a little much if the whole campaign is a stunt to get laid.
He gets laid, we get fucked.
Are we sure it wasn’t the dude at the end of the clip who really laid a smooch on him?
All I can say is this: there is absolutely no accounting for taste.
Yeah, seems to me it would be a lot cheaper to get another mistress or twelve.
