President-elect Donald Trump announced his nomination of Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-SC) to head the Office of Management and Budget in a statement released Saturday morning.
In the statement, Trump praised Mulvaney as a “very high-energy leader with deep convictions.”
Mulvaney said the nomination was a “great honor” and pledged to “restore budgetary and fiscal sanity” to Washington, D.C.
I can’t decide if this hurts worse than it helps - I get rid of my congressman, while Trump gets someone who is as far out there as David Stockton when he was tapped to be Reagan’s budget director. Just saw at tweet from Matthew Yglesias pointing out ole Mick was one of the leaders not wanting to raise the debt ceiling, and insisting it would not be any real problem with the economy. Wonder if he will be willing to test this now?
I suspect it’s possible that congress might ignore TrUmps budget as they did Obamas.
OT, I mentioned this on another thread but has had to say to a Trump supporter praising Russia, “if you like Russia so much, why don’t you go live there”?
I see these people on WaPo and other message boards. I remember these comments lobbed at liberals not so long ago.
His cabinet and team of advisors are shaping up nicely. Yes it’s true they are running the Asylum
This guy is one of the idiots who thinks he can run the economy of the richest country in the world like grandma’s household budget - if grandma thought the most important thing to buy with money from the cookie jar were assault rifles. This may be one of the worst picks yet and it will fly under the radar while we all talk about the latest tweet. The Republicans sense of the world economy and the US role in it is demoralizing. If they have total control they do not have to abolish any government programs - they will just use the Norquist method of starving them to death.
