Former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-MS) has some advice for what Senate Majority Leader-elect Mitch McConnell (R-KY) should tell conservatives: “kiss off” and go ahead with the CRomnibus in response to President Barack Obama’s executive action on immigration.

“I would tell them to kiss off and go forward with the CRomnibus,” Lott told reporters Thursday at a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor according to Buzzfeed.

The CRomnibus (the history of that name you can read about here) is a combined omnibus and continuing resolution package proposal meant to fund certain parts of the government. House Republican leadership wants to use a CRomnibus to fight Obama’s executive actions on immigration.

Lott also called the government shutdown that occurred last year a “fraud” and urged McConnell to make conservatives in the Senate follow Republican Senate leadership’s lead.

  1. Funny how they gain a little common sense once they leave office.

  2. Especially when they start feeding at the lobbiest trough and don’t have to deny who their masters are. And if they’re not planning to run for office again it’s even easier…

  3. Yup. They don’t have to appeal to their brain dead base anymore.

  4. “urged McConnell to make conservatives in the Senate follow Republican Senate leadership’s lead.”

LOL! Captain Catherd is silly. That’s not how being a GOPer/Teatroll works anymore…if it ever did. None of them are leaders. At best, they are agitators and their entire policy platform consists of winding up their radicalized conservative base, letting them go and saying “let’s see where they take us.”

  5. Bless his heart, but how much is a lobbyist who’s this disconnected from the reality of how American politics, and the Senate specifically, work in 2014 really worth?
