Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, called on Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown to be “careful” after Brown urged Akin to drop his Senate bid, BuzzFeed reports.
“For other Republicans, I have not seen Scott Brown’s statement, but he should be careful because based on some of his statements there may be some call for him to get out of his race,” Perkins said Monday in Tampa, outside the Republican National Committee’s platform committee discussions.
Perkins added that Brown’s support among conservatives is “very shallow”:
Asked what he was referring to, Perkins said that Brown has been “off the reservation on a number of Republican issues, conservative issues.”
“His support among conservatives is very shallow,” he added.
