After Kentucky clerk Kim Davis walked onto the stage at former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s (R) rally on Tuesday to “Eye of the Tiger,” the band Survivor lambasted her for using the song without permission.

“NO! We did not grant Kim Davis any rights to use ‘My Tune -The Eye Of The Tiger,'” the band wrote on its official Facebook page on Tuesday. “I would not grant her the rights to use Charmin! C’mom Mike, you are not The Donald but you can do better than that.”

Survivor founding member Jim Peterik (pictured above) told Billboard that he “was very surprised and dismayed at the misuse of the song.”

“The song has motivated thousands through the years to reach beyond their limits. Its use for the release of Kim Davis does not support my views or my politics. I have contacted my publishers to make sure this usage is stopped immediately,” he said.

Davis was released from jail on Tuesday after serving time for repeatedly refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

  1. I’m sure Kim would have no problem if she used “Wang Dang Sweet Poontang.” On second thought …

  2. You mean Ted Nugent’s ode to statutory rape of a 16 year old ‘Cat Scratch Fever’ was not readily available in Huckabee’s iPhone?

  3. Seriously. I’m a little surprised Ted didn’t meet her at the door pressing a stack of his CDs into her hands. Not just his solo stuff either. I bet Kim doesn’t have a copy of the entire Damn Yankees discography.

  4. But according to her (or Huckabee’s) religious beliefs, she can use it if she wants to.

Laws don’t mean anything anymore to conservatives. Laws are simply quaint traditions, like the Geneva Conventions.

I’m sorry Mr. Peterik, but the Whore Train has left the station. Like the rest of us, you will have to step aside as it goes full steam(er) ahead.
