It’s fallen to “The Daily Show” to point out American conservatives’ newfound love for imperial foreign autocrats.

Amid all the news surrounding Russia’s invasion of the Ukrainian Crimea, Jon Stewart pointed out on Thursday the absurdity of conservatives who sing Vladimir Putin’s praises while bashing President Barack Obama as spineless.

“The weirdest thing about this isn’t Putin invading Ukraine—you expect a crazy guy to act crazy,” he quipped. “The weirdest thing is seeing conservatives in our country point at the crazy guy and go, ‘Yeah, I’ll have what they’re having!'”

Stewart had more than enough material to work with: Bill O’Reilly, Rudy Giuliani, Eric Bolling, and Sarah Palin all recently sang Putin’s praises as a strong leader, despite condemnations from the international community. “You’ve got hand it to Putin,” according to O’Reilly, because he’s “what you call a leader,” according to Giuliani.

Meanwhile, there was no shortage of Fox News clips referring to Barack Obama’s “mom jeans” and weak character.

To draw out some of the hypocrisy, Stewart closed with a montage of conservatives condemning the president as a dictator who shoved Obamacare down the throats of freedom-loving Americans. Summing up the argument, Stewart concluded that “Barack Obama is a weak, mom jeans-wearing dictator-king!”
