With new health insurance markets launching next week, the Obama administration is unveiling premiums and plan choices for 36 states where the federal government is taking the lead to cover uninsured residents. The overview of premiums and plan choices, being released Sept. 25 by Sebelius, comes as the White House swings into full campaign mode to promote the benefits of the Affordable Care Act to a skeptical public. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius on Wednesday said that the health insurance marketplace is working.

“The marketplace is working and people are enrolling,” she said in a press call. “In every part of our country, people are very interested.”

Sebelius’ statement followed an announcement of low health plan enrollment numbers during the first month, Oct. 1-Nov. 2.

Only 26,794 people selected an insurance plan through healthcare.gov, the federal marketplace website, and 106,185 total selected a plan through state-run and federal marketplaces.
