Former California governor and former “Celebrity Apprentice” host Arnold Schwarzenegger has a theory about why President Donald Trump is always name-dropping him.
“I think he’s in love with me,” Schwarzenegger said Tuesday.
The revelation came during Schwarzenegger’s appearance on “The Michael Smerconish Program” radio show. The host asked why the former action star thinks that Trump has brought him up frequently in speeches and tweets. While Schwarzenegger dropped the quip about Trump’s love, he didn’t speak much more on the subject.
“You’ve had a long relationship with him,” host Michael Smerconish said.
“Oh yes,” Schwarzenegger agreed.
“That’s all you’re saying on that,” Smerconish continued as Schwarzenegger laughed.
The comments came after a war of words that has lasted months between Trump and Schwarzenegger. Trump notably asked that attendees at the National Prayer Breakfast pray for Schwarzenegger’s low ratings on the “Celebrity Apprentice,” which Trump was still an executive producer on. Schwarzenegger then hit back with a video suggesting they trade jobs.
Last Friday, Schwarzenegger announced he was leaving the show after one season because of its “baggage,” seeming to reference Trump. The President fired off a tweet this weekend claiming Schwarzenegger was fired.
Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t voluntarily leaving the Apprentice, he was fired by his bad (pathetic) ratings, not by me. Sad end to great show
