Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, on Wednesday evening said that he has seen evidence that is “more than circumstantial” of collusion between associates of President Donald Trump and Russia.

“I can’t go into the particulars, but there is more than circumstantial evidence now,” Schiff said on MSNBC after host Chuck Todd noted the congressman’s comment on Sunday that there is “circumstantial evidence of collusion.”

“You have seen direct evidence of collusion?” Todd then asked Schiff.

“I don’t want to go into specifics, but I will say that there is evidence that is not circumstantial, and is very much worthy of investigation. So that is what we ought to do,” Schiff replied.

CNN then reported later on Wednesday night that the FBI has evidence that may show that Trump associates communicated with Russian officials about Hillary Clinton’s campaign, citing unnamed U.S. officials. CNN reported:

The FBI has information that indicates associates of President Donald Trump communicated with suspected Russian operatives to possibly coordinate the release of information damaging to Hillary Clinton’s campaign, US officials told CNN.
….
The FBI is now reviewing that information, which includes human intelligence, travel, business and phone records and accounts of in-person meetings, according to those U.S. officials. The information is raising the suspicions of FBI counterintelligence investigators that the coordination may have taken place, though officials cautioned that the information was not conclusive and that the investigation is ongoing.

  1. What’s the next gambit? I would say that Nunes’ stunt pretty clearly led to the story leaked to CNN. Trump is back to claiming he was right about Obama giving him the “tapp”. Things won’t remain static.

  2. So what is the process for getting a special prosecutor named?

  3. No one is going to tell me that Reince and Ryan and McConnell and Nunes and the rest of these craven motherfuckers didn’t know about this. They have ALWAYS put their party above their country, and they always will. And Nunes looks like a fucking fool today. How stupid can you be to think that having a press conference after feeding info from the FBI to a person who is the subject of an FBI investigation was going to be good publicity for himself and for Trump and get Trump off the hook for his libelous statements against Obama? If Republicans weren’t gerrymandered into office, they would never vote against any public assistance programs, since they would never be able to get a job outside of Congress that would pay enough to live on, and the vast majority of them are just too damned fugly for male prostitution.
And a little OT, but like Nunes, most Republicans have a special talent for pulling things out of their assholes, but you can never take the asshole out of a Republican, and here’s one of the biggest distended anuses in the history of politics in America:

I think there’s a fair chance they’re going to double down. It’s a long time till november 2018, and if the justice department under sessions refuses to act there can’t be any prosecution. So they’re hoping they can keep a majority in congress and reap the goodies. Especially if, say, sessions can investigate a lot of brown and black people voting, or congress can figure out a way to pass voting restrictions under reconciliation.
