During an appearance at the South Carolina National Security Action Summit last week, former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) fielded a question from an angry attendee about President Obama’s executive actions on immigration.

The woman grilled Santorum about Congress’ inability to reverse Obama’s executive actions.

“Why is the Congress rolling over and letting this communist dictator destroy my country?” she asked Santorum. “You all know what he is, and I know what he is. I want him out of the White House. He’s not a citizen. He could have been removed a long time ago.”

She later mentioned that “Obama tried to blow up a nuke in Charleston a few months ago.”

Santorum appeared confused and uncomfortable throughout her question, and someone had to cut her off so that Santorum could respond.

“I’m not a sitting member of the Senate, so I’m not taking blame for any of that stuff,” he began, before voicing his opposition to Obama’s executive actions on immigration.

“You hit on one point that I absolutely agree: this is a complete lack of leadership,” he said.

Santorum said that “the word ‘tyrant’ comes to mind and claimed that the Constitution is “unraveling.”

  1. At least he’s somewhat smart enough not to agree 100% with a bugfuck nutjob.

  2. I saw no evidence of him being “somewhat smart”. His response was as ideologically strident and only slightly less deranged than the woman’s question/rant. If Santorum had any real aspirations for a political future, instead of just hitching a ride on the grifter gravy train, he would have asked that the woman be politely escorted from the event and carried on.

  3. I say “somewhat smart” because he looked so uncomfortable listening to this woman rant about silly conspiracy theories. And I do agree, he should have had her thrown out of the room… but that behaviour would cause most of his supporters to abandon him.

Having long ago embraced the strategy of laying down with the racist right-wing dogs, Santorum now often finds the fleas to be nearly unbearable … but does his best not to appear discomforted.

  5. I hope someone called for medical emergency help for the woman…she is obviously not well.
