Rose Cochran, the wife of Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) died on Friday, Cochran spokesman Chris Gallegos confirmed to TPM.

Cochran was 73 according to the Associated Press. She died in a hospice facility.

The senator’s wife fell into the center of Cochran’s re-election campaign when a blogger who supported Cochran challenger state Sen. Chris McDaniel (R-MS) went to the nursing home where Rose Cochran had been residing to photograph her in a bedridden state for an anti-Cochran video.

Three others were eventually charged in connection with the plot to photograph Rose Cochran. One of the conspirators, Mark Mayfield, was later found dead in an apparent suicide.
