Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Sunday that he didn’t know if GOP nominee hopeful Donald Trump was the party’s strongest candidate, but said the real estate mogul could with a general election.

NBC News’ “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd asked Priebus if he thought Trump could win the general election.

“Sure, I think all of our candidates can win a general election,” Priebus replied.

“Is he your best candidate?” Todd asked if Priebus talked over him.

Todd repeated his question.

“I don’t know. Listen, I don’t worry about who is the strongest candidate. Obviously, we have our own conversations here,” Priebus said. “But the fact is is that we’re here, prepared to support whoever the eventual nominee is, with the biggest, best Republican National Committee that we’ve ever put together, Chuck.”

Priebus’ comments come after he and Trump met in Washington last week and reportedly discussed a possible brokered convention and how the delegates would be allocated.
