Deeds was airlifted to the hospital Tuesday morning and listed in critical condition after he sustained multiple stab wounds in an incident at his home in Millboro, Va. Police said Deeds’ son Gus, 24, died in the residence from an apparent gunshot wound.
Details are still murky as to exactly what occurred inside the residence as police continue to investigate a motive.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported that Gus Deeds was released Monday following a mental health evaluation.
