President Barack Obama is expected to announce his nominee to replace late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia on Wednesday, Reuters reported.
An anonymous source familiar with the selection process told Reuters that Obama would announce Judge Sri Srinivasan or Judge Merrick Garland as the nominee. The report also said Obama’s vetting team had finished its work on Tuesday.
The highly-anticipated nomination comes after many Republican senators pledged not to give Obama’s nominee so much as a hearing, citing “tradition.”
