The personnel shakeup at “The View” appears to be moving along unabated, with the daytime talk show reportedly bringing in the producer of one of MSNBC’s top programs.
Bill Wolff, executive producer of the “Rachel Maddow Show,” will take over for Bill Geddie as showrunner for the upcoming season of “The View,” an anonymous MSNBC spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.
ABC’s daytime staple is currently in a period of significant change. Barbara Walters, the show’s stalwart, retired earlier this year, and two other hosts — Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd — soon announced that they would follow her out the door.
Since then, “The View” announced that Rosie O’Donnell will be returning to show. O’Donnell’s stormy (and brief) stint on the show was highlighted by a tense on-air debate with Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
Hasselbeck, now with Fox News, made it clear that she didn’t approve of O’Donnell’s hire.
O’Donnell will join Whoopi Goldberg on the program, as the show looks to fill out the slots on the panel.
The reported hiring of Wolff comes as “The View” appears to be considering others from the political commentariat to join O’Donnell and Goldberg. Conservative pundit S.E. Cupp has reportedly been in talks to join “The View.” She appeared on Wednesday’s edition of the show, sparring with Goldberg over public prayer.
Alicia Menendez, the host of Fusion’s “AM Tonight” and the daughter of Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), has also been a guest host on the show, as has Meghan McCain, the daughter of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) who hosts a show on Pivot.
Of course, you know what this means: Rand Paul won’t agree to be on “The View.” I’m already just sick about it.
Colbert, now this. It’s a war on talking heads.
I happened by an all-female daytime talk show where one of the women looked like Wesley Snipes. Is that “The View?” Egad.
Troll much?
Stick with the Faux newsbunnies - it’s obvious Maddow’s stuff is way over your head.
