Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) was welcomed Monday night at a rally in his hometown with a Dr. Seuss-themed cake celebrating his marathon floor speech last month against Obamacare.
Cruz tweeted a photo Tuesday of a “Green Eggs and Ham”-themed cake from the previous night’s rally in Houston, Texas. During his 21-hour floor speech on defunding Obamacare, Cruz read the Dr. Seuss story in full to his two daughters watching from home.
“‘Green Eggs and Ham’ has some applicability, as curious as it may sound, to the Obamcare debate,” Cruz said after his reading, arguing Americans “did not like green eggs and ham, and they did not like Obamacare either.”
Cruz continued to poke fun at the Obamacare website at the Monday rally, joking that “Nigerian email scammers” have been less active because “they all have been hired to run the Obamacare website.”
