Las Vegas casino owner Phil Ruffin claimed Wednesday night in a speech at the Republican National Convention that Donald Trump “always pays his bills promptly.” Some contractors and workers who’ve done business with the real estate mogul say otherwise.

“I think he’s tough, smart, he knows what he is doing,” Ruffin said. “He always pays his bills promptly. You won’t hear that. Promptly. No discounts. Nobody lost any money on it.”

Yet in a June analysis, USA Today reported that Trump shortchanged workers out of thousands of dollars. According to the report, 60 out of 3,500 lawsuits leveled against Trump over the years were from workers who were employed by Trump and his businesses and alleged that they were shortchanged.

In addition, Trump’s companies have been cited for at least 24 violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act since 2005 as a result of unpaid wages, USA Today found.
