Despite the hopes and dreams of fans everywhere, actor Paul Rudd’s publicist told TPM on Monday that the actor had nothing to do with subduing a homophobic man attacking someone at the Dallas airport last week.

After video surfaced of a man hurling slurs and punches at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, speculation emerged that Rudd was part of the crowd that tackled the angry man to the ground.

Wonkette published tweets from people saying they saw Rudd on a flight that connected from Dallas at about the same time. Jezebel and Playboy raised the question shortly after.

In an email to TPM on Monday, Rudd’s publicist Jodi Gottlieb threw cold water on the hype:

“It is not him,” she wrote. “Thanks for checking.”

An unnamed publicist also denied the rumor to the Hollywood Reporter.

Rudd may yet play the well-dressed civilian hero in the movie.
