A second person was found with a gun Tuesday at the Oregon high school where a shooter took one student’s life and then wound up dead, according to local police.
Troutdale, Oregon Police Chief Scott Anderson said at a press conference that the additional gun was not related to the shooting and that the person in possession of the weapon was taken into custody. The gun was found during the evacuation process, according to Anderson.
The gunman shot and killed a student at Reynolds High School in Troutdale on Tuesday morning. The shooter was later found dead, though authorities had not yet disclosed the circumstances of his death.
Anderson said the gunman used a rifle and has been “tentatively identified.” Authorities were in the process of identifying the next of kin for both the victim and the shooter, but Anderson said that investigators weren’t yet confident enough to release the shooter’s identity.
A teacher also suffered “non-life threatening injuries”in the shooting and was treated at the scene, according to Anderson.
