South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) will reportedly attend a prayer vigil for the victims of the mass shooting at a Charleston church on Thursday.

“Michael, Rena, Nalin and I are praying for the victims and families touched by tonight’s senseless tragedy at Emanuel AME Church. While we do not yet know all of the details, we do know that we’ll never understand what motivates anyone to enter one of our places of worship and take the life of another. Please join us in lifting up the victims and their families with our love and prayers,” Haley said in a statement about the shooting.

The vigil will be held at the Morris Brown AME Church at noon on Thursday, according to Charleston television station WCSC.

Nine people were killed when a white man opened fire during a Bible study meeting at the historically black Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal church in Charleston on Wednesday. Police and the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division are investigating the attack as a hate crime. The gunman was still at large as of Thursday morning.
