The New Yorker will memorialize iconic artist Prince next week with a cover devoted to his famed hit “Purple Rain.”
The image by artist Bob Staake shows soft lavender rain drops falling against a violet background.
Prince died suddenly on Thursday at the age of 57 at Paisley Park, his recording complex in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

Bravo! The New Yorker nails it again!
Wonderful tribute. Well done!
Fittingly wistful. The New Yorker often gets these tribute covers just right. It’s kind of amazing how much meaning a good artist can put into a simple illustration.
