In its Thursday night endorsement of New York businessman Donald Trump for the GOP presidential race, the New York Post didn’t shy away from highlighting the bombastic billionaire’s flaws.
Calling him “a potential superstar of vast promise,” the Post predicted a marked shift both in Trump’s demeanor and on the issues should he win the Republican nomination.
“The post-pivot Trump needs to be more presidential: better informed on policy, more self-disciplined and less thin-skinned,” the paper wrote.
“Trump is now an imperfect messenger carrying a vital message,” the endorsement continued. “But he reflects the best of ‘New York values’ – and offers the best hope for all Americans who rightly feel betrayed by the political class.”
The Post also wrote off some of Trump’s signature proposals – like building a wall at the border with Mexico – as “rookie mistakes,” and policies “made on the fly.”
While the real estate mogul’s rhetoric has often veered toward “amateurish, divisive,” and “downright coarse,” the paper also praised Trump for energizing millions of new voters disillusioned with participating in the political process.
“He has the potential – the skills, the know-how, the values – to live up to his campaign slogan: to make America great again,” the paper said.
It’s Trump’s second New York newspaper endorsement ahead of the state’s primary next week. The New York Observer, which is owned by Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, endorsed the Republican on Tuesday.

Can you feel the love, Ted?
Those damn New York values.
So a coarse amateur rookie is the best Republican candidate. hahahahaha
Well, I guess taking a buck a day off every lout in the greater NYC area is a reasonably profitable business model, even if the paper you’re producing is a Murdochian POS the Columbia Journalism Review quite seriously called a “force for evil.”
This is a vote for the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. This isn’t a grow your own operation.
