A prank caller got the better of MSNBC on Thursday afternoon as the channel covered a plane that slid off the runway at New York City’s LaGuardia Airport.
Host Andrea Mitchell placed a man on the line who claimed to be Larry Donnell of the New York Giants. The man said he’d been a passenger on the aircraft.
“Where were you sitting on the plane, and when did you first know you were all in trouble?” Mitchell asked her guest.
“I was sitting in the — fuck her right in the pussy,” the guest spat out, and quickly hung up.
Mitchell appeared not to understand the rapid-fire profanity, and continued to ask questions.
“I think we were being had,” NBC News correspondent Tom Costello interjected. “I don’t think that was a legitimate witness, based on what he said on the air.”
“He uttered some, some profanities,” Costello added.
As Mediaite noted, crashing media coverage with this particular vulgarism has been a meme for about a year.
Witty guy who squandered his 15 minutes of fame.
Whew! For a moment there I was afraid that was another of Alan Greenspan’s inadvertent butt-dials.
Newt?
I had this on live while I was working and if this idiot thinks everyone heard him lewd and clear … WRONG!
Yeah, if you listen to the clip looking for it, it’s clear. But if you were listening to the CNN-style stupid wall-to-wall coverage on MSNBC, you only caught the audio from the guy who concluded the poser was an idiot troll.
