Mitt Romney on Sunday said he accepted MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry’s apology for a controversial segment on her show poking fun at a Romney family photo including Romney’s African-American adopted grandson, Kieran Romney.

“I think her apology was clearly heartfelt, and we accept that,” former Massachusetts Gov. and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney said on “Fox News Sunday.” “I’ve made plenty of mistakes myself, and they’ve apologized.”

Romney added that he accepts that he should expect criticism as a public figure, but said it was unfair to make fun of his family.

“If you get in the political game, you can expect incoming,” he said, but added that, “children, that’s beyond the line.”
