Technically, anyone can serve as speaker of the House.

So a Democratic congressman on Thursday thought he’d open up the race to members of the public after House Majority Leader and speaker-apparent Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) dropped out of the running and sent the Republican conference spiraling into chaos.

Rep. Mark Takano (D-CA) posted a photo of a Craiglist ad for the speakership to his Twitter account:

“Are you an American Citizen?” the ad read. “Do you have experience negotiating hostage situations? Are you ready for the challenge of a lifetime? Then this job is for you!”

The post noted that there was “No Congressional experience necessary,” although babysitting experience was “STRONGLY PREFERRED.”

Takano’s office told The Hill that the congressman’s staff shared a screenshot of a preview of the Craigslist ad, which actually wasn’t published on the website.
