The family of a 17-year-old who was allegedly knocked unconscious by a New York police officer released a video of the incident, New York Magazine’s Daily Intelligencer reported on Wednesday.

The cellphone video reportedly showed teen Marcel Hamer on the ground after being stopped by an NYPD officer.

His lawyers told the blog that a plainclothes NYPD officer suspected Hamer of smoking marijuana, but the lawyers noted that their client was only charged with disorderly conduct.

In the video, according to the Daily Intelligencer, Hamer tried to explain that he wasn’t smoking marijuana.

“Mister, it was just a cigarette, sir,” Hamer reportedly said.

According to The Daily Intelligencer, Hamer was then struck and appeared to have been knocked unconscious. The officer can then reportedly be heard talking.

“Do you wanna get fucked up?” the officer said. “Yeah, get it on film.”

The incident occurred on June 4 and led to an investigation by the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau, according to The Brooklyn Paper. Hamer’s family told the paper that he suffered memory loss, dizziness and headaches after the incident.

Good thing this incident was caught on video. Otherwise we’d hear the standard “he was resisting arrest”, “acting in a threatening manner” and “tried to reach for my gun” excuses for having the shit kicked out of him.

    Serve and protect, my ass.

  2. File a lawsuit, and take a number.

  3. Can’t wait for the RWNJs to start pointing at this as evidence that it’s “just a problem with police in general, not a problem with white police or anything related to racism.”

  4. Too bad the officer didn’t work in Anchorage.
