Larry Wilmore weighed in on the shooting in Texas on Sunday after two gunmen attempted to storm an anti-Islam organization’s contest to display cartoons of the prophet Mohammad.
Condemning the shooting unequivocally, the host of “The Nightly Show” focused the rest of his ire on the woman behind the event, anti-Islam activist and conspiracy theorist Pamela Geller.
“When it comes to spouting cray-cray, Pamela Geller takes the cay-cake,” Wilmore said.
Wilmore raised his eyebrow when a clip showed Geller calling the West’s confrontation with Islam “the battle between freedom and slavery.”
“Ummm,” Wilmore groaned, “we already had that battle. It was called the Civil War.”
“You know another thing that’s horrific, Pamela Geller?” he continued. “Intentionally putting innocent, unarmed security guard in danger so you can make some bullshit free speech argument.”
The host’s patience was up when Rep. Peter King (R-NY) said that while he was unaware of the particulars in the case, it warranted more surveillance of Muslims in America.
“You know, I don’t know the particulars of how your brain works, but I’m officially calling for surveillance of every law you’ve fucking proposed,” Wilmore said.
