Larry Wilmore: GOP Opposing Loretta Lynch Has To Do With ‘Brown People’ (VIDEO)

Larry Wilmore joked on Thursday that Loretta Lynch was the country’s latest “political prisoner” released after being held by un-American forces for 166 days.

Noting that Lynch’s confirmation as attorney general was held up by Senate Republicans longer than her seven predecessors combined, “The Nightly Show” host speculated what held them up.

“I know what you’re thinking. ‘Alright Larry, blame it on the fact that Loretta Lynch is black,'” he said, sighing. “This has nothing to do with black.”

Wilmore ran a clip of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) saying that he opposed Lynch’s nomination because she “supports the unconstitutional executive orders that the President of the United States has issued on immigration.”

“It has to do with brown — a.k.a. brown people,” Wilmore added. “The voting bloc Republicans always want to woo and always seem to shoo.”

  1. Hasn’t Larry heard that racism was fixed back in 1982?

  2. I thought it had to do with them having a temper tantrum over them not being allowed to take away rights from LGBT people, women, minorities…you know EVERYONE!

  3. Interesting that McGrumpy is against the confirmation because of what Obama did and not something Lynch has done. Why should she receive blame for something she was not involved in? Huh John? Geeze McCain I wish you had retired instead of running for the senate again.

Recently, Larry Wilmore did a segment on Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s ultimate punishment. After mentioning that the U.S. is rare among developed countries in that it has a death penalty, he pushed for it in Tsarnaev’s case. His idea of an appropriate punishment: make Tsarnaev run a marathon and then blow him up. Stephen Colbert, he is not. I vowed that I would no longer watch his show, and I haven’t.
I turned to Comedy Central every night from 10:00 to 11:00 because it was an oasis of progressive thought for someone living in a deep red state (Alabama). I don’t need to hear more comments like the one above – they’re part of daily life here!

  5. More Republicans need to practice the “count to 3” rule before opening their mouths. Granted, it’s not easy when you have a group of smarter comedians with you as their target.
