Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) celebrated Star Wars Day with a new web video that frames him as the only Republican candidate capable of laying waste to Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton (and saving the galaxy).
As John Williams’ booming track plays, the classic yellow credits scroll down the screen painting a picture of a 2017 in which Clinton has defeated Trump “in the largest landslide since Reagan in 1984.”
In this not-so-distant future, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is Clinton’s Supreme Court nominee, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) leads a Democratic Senate majority, and the Second Amendment is under attack. Tax hikes and increased federal spending on Obamacare are imminent.
The ad then cuts to clips of news anchors citing Kasich’s relative favorability and odds against Clinton in a general election matchup compared to other GOP presidential candidates.
“Only one candidate can defeat Hillary Clinton in the fall,” a caption reads.
Kasich and Trump are the only remaining Republican contenders in the 2016 race after Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) dropped out Tuesday night following a walloping defeat in the Indiana primary. While Kasich has won only the Ohio primary and is mathematically eliminated from winning the delegates required to secure the party’s nomination, he has chosen to remain in the race to present a traditional conservative alternative for GOPers vehemently opposed to the New York billionaire.

I love science fiction.
I think John Kasich would be a lovely third party candidate.
Hope springs eternal John!
Someone needs to explain…why is he still in the race again?
I know web ads are cheap to produce, but what a waste.
