Kasich Weighs In On Cruz-Trump Spat: ‘Families Have To Be Off-Limits’

Republican presidential candidate Ohio Gov. John Kasich weighed in the spat between rivals Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in an interview aired Sunday and said that families “have to be off-limits.”

NBC News’ “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd asked Kasich what he made of the spat.

“Well, first of all, Chuck, families have to be off-limits. I mean, you cannot get these attacks on families. And if this becomes the order of the day, what kind of people are we going to have in the future that are going to run for public office?” Kasich asked. “There’s got to be some rules, and there’s got to be something that gets set there. Some decency.”

Trump tweeted about an anti-Trump ad that used a photo of Melania from a GQ photo shoot. Cruz responded on Twitter that his camp didn’t have anything to do with the ad. The next day, Trump retweeted a meme with an unflattering photo of Heidi Cruz side by side with a more flattering photo of his wife.

Cruz then told Trump to leave Heidi “the hell alone.”

  1. “There’s got to be some rules, and there’s got to be something that gets set there. Some decency.” (Gov. Kasich)

Normally, I would agree, John. However, your side has already ceded that ground. You do recall all of the recent chatter of Bill Clinton, don’t you? No? How about all the garbage your side chatted about during President Obama’s two presidential campaigns? You see, your side lies … and pretty consistently, I might add.

  2. Being the one guy who isn’t a nauseating churl could be just crazy enough a gimmick to work (update: it is not a crazy enough gimmick to work). And if it were more an expression of who Kasich really is, and if his positions were, in fact, moderate, I’d be about halfway sympathetic.

  3. I agree. I wish we had more time to gauge him (Not that I would even consider voting a Republican to the White House).

  4. Praps Mr Kasich, you could speak some sense to your party’s other 2 candidates …er…children… and remind them what it is they’re doing?

  5. Blow me, Kasich. I remember how you and your sanctimonious gang of scum-skimmers went after Clinton during the '90s, including Hillary and Chelsea. And that’s not even counting how many times you despicable, lying motherfuckers have gone after Michelle Obama. I can buy a plastic crown of thorns at Hobby Lobby, too, asshole.
