Before Jon Stewart handed things off to Larry Wilmore on Tuesday night, he realized he had to break some tough news to his colleague about former anti-gay lobbyist and reality TV star Josh Duggar.
When “The Daily Show” host asked Wilmore how he enjoyed his vacation last week, Wilmore said he spent it watching his favorite TV show, “19 Kids And Counting,” a reality-show documenting the Duggar clan.
Apparently Wilmore hadn’t heard the news that Josh Duggar allegedly molested underage girls when he was a teenager.
“I love those Duggars, man!” Wilmore said. “They’re so good.”
Stewart tried to interrupt in vain, saying he had “some bad news.”
Wilmore pressed on.
“You know, I hope nothing happens that makes me recontextualize their closeness and isolation as something dangerous,” Wilmore said.
Stewart bit his lip.
