Jon Stewart tackled Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s (D-NY) stories of sexism in Congress on “The Daily Show” Tuesday night.
In promoting her new book, Gillibrand recounted several incidents involving male colleagues who made inappropriate remarks directed at her self-described struggle with weight. One colleague advised her to work out to avoid getting “porky,” while an older senator squeezed her waist and told her not to lose too much weight since he preferred “chubby” women.
“Even when it comes to sh*tty sexism, the Senate is gridlocked,” Stewart quipped.
It was ironic, the comedian said, that a group of men who “if you squint look, on a good day, like a bowl of dried fruit” were judging Gillibrand on her appearance.
Stewart also called out the women of Fox News’ “Outnumbered” for defending catcalling and brought in “Daily Show” correspondent Jessica Williams to explain just why women don’t need “the horny clap of approval from any guy.”
