Joe Scarborough held forth on Donald Trump’s “racist” attacks on the Mexican heritage of a federal judge during a Monday panel on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“It’s completely racism,” Scarborough insisted. “It’s completely racist.”

His fellow panelists, including co-host Mika Bzrezinski, Rev. Al Sharpton and GOP strategist Nicole Wallace, agreed Trump’s argument that U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel is biased against him because of his Mexican heritage could only be described as a racism.

“Republicans! Really. Good on you,” Scarborough, a former Republican congressman, said. “You’re endorsing this guy? Seriously?”

The only panelist who didn’t call Trump’s remarks “racist” was Bloomberg Politics’ Mark Halperin, who defended the presumptive GOP nominee on his own program Friday by arguing that Mexican “was not a race” and therefore Trump’s comments “were not racial.”

On Monday, Halperin acknowledged that Trump’s remarks were “horrible politics.”

“The Republicans are denouncing this because they think it’s horrible politics, right?” Halperin said. “Short-term and long-term. They also are morally outraged, as they should be.”

“They can’t be morally outraged this week when they knew what he was doing last week,” Scarborough shot back, pointing out that Trump has been attacking Curiel since late May.

As Scarborough pointed out, GOP leaders threw their support behind Trump even after he proposed temporarily banning Muslims from entering the United States in the wake of December’s terrorist attack in San Bernardino, California.

“That has been out on the table while every Republican has endorsed this man,” he said.
