Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) told NBC News on Wednesday that he thought it was “probably a good decision” for presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump not to comment further on the Latino federal judge hearing a class action lawsuit against Trump University.
“You know, he feels like it’s an unjust proceeding and he should prevail and, but now he said he’s going to let his lawyer handle it and he’s not going to be continuing to comment it, and I think that’s probably a good decision,” Sessions told NBC News’ Hallie Jackson.
Sessions was an early and vocal Senate supporter of Trump’s campaign, citing his plan to “fix illegal immigration.”
Trump released a statement on Tuesday vowing to no longer comment on the case and stating that he felt as if his comments about U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel had been misconstrued.
Jackson asked Sessions if he was disappointed in the rhetoric, according a transcript of the conversation released by NBC.
“Well, it would’ve been nice if it were — that had not been said, for sure. But he’s explained that, and he’s really, feels strongly about this lawsuit,” Sessions reportedly responded.

What about other people?
I think Trump will keep his pledge… Until the next time Judge Curiel rules ‘unfairly’.
Well, if Trump feels that strongly about how the judge is handling the case(s); he feels the judge is acting in a biased manner and has specifics to back up that contention, file a motion. Otherwise, yeah, it’s probably “good” Trump is (claiming he will be) keeping his trap shut.
“You know, he feels like it’s an unjust proceeding and he should prevail”.
He feels that way about everything that doesn’t go his way!
Exactly! – I don’t believe Donald is doing late-night comedians any favors here.
