Former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) on Friday agreed with Donald Trump’s belief that the provision in North Carolina’s new anti-LGBT law that keeps transgender people from using their preferred bathroom is unnecessary.

“It’s hard for me to sit on the outside, not knowing the details, and make a comment on it, but it would seem that what Donald said makes sense,” Brewer said in a SiriusXM Progress interview with the Huffington Post’s Michelangelo Signorile. “What I heard him say was basically that it seems to be working fine the way it is right now. I don’t know if they’ve had extraordinary issues with bathrooms [in North Carolina]. To be honest, I find it kind of bizarre that we’re talking about bathrooms in presidential elections.”

Brewer in 2014 vetoed a “religious freedom” bill in Arizona, which she addressed in her interview on SiriusXM Progress.

“Well, it was discrimination,” she said. “It was total discrimination, Bill 1062. Once it got out of the legislature and came to my desk, the world exploded. Like I said in my veto message, it became more divisive than we could ever imagine if I’d signed it.”
