CNN Host Tells Trump Aide: Saying Something Doesn’t Make It True!

CNN’s Jake Tapper faced off with Donald Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort on Sunday over the media’s coverage of Donald Trump’s campaign, telling Manafort that the campaign cannot blame the media for coverage of Trump’s missteps.

During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Manafort said that Trump had a “substantive” week and complained that the media did not cover Trump’s economic plan.

“There was a debate that could have been had there. Instead the media chose to take her, Clinton — the Clinton campaign narrative and go on attack on Donald Trump,” he said.

Tapper then mentioned Trump’s comment about “Second Amendment people” and asked Manafort if Trump should be more careful.

Manafort said that most did not interpret Trump’s statement as a threat, and again launched into his complaint that the media did not cover the latest news about Clinton’s emails and the economy.

“As a factual matter, on Monday, my show covered Mr. Trump’s speech, OK? We did. We covered Mr. Trump’s speech,” Tapper said in response. “And we did cover those Hillary Clinton emails.”

“These things, just because you say them, they’re not true,” he added. “We have been covering the substance. We have been covering the things that are bad to Hillary Clinton.”

Manafort then lamented that the media only covered Trump’s economic speech for one day and spent more time on his Second Amendment comment.

“And Mr. Trump bears no responsibility for his campaign being off-message?” Tapper then asked. “His comments about the Second Amendment had nothing to do with why we weren’t covering the economic message?”

Manafort again defended Trump, arguing that Trump did not issue a threat and meant that gun rights supporters “should be concerned about Hillary Clinton’s candidacy.”

Of course saying something doesn’t make is true—unless your a white male republican, wearing a suit and tie. Now excuse me while I go feed my unicorn.

Unless… you’re from the Trump Campaign

They have successfully removed irony as a tool of satire .
Have they secretly developed an Onion Headline generator to put them out of business?

Rather than noting lies, it would be better to count truths per hour of interview. That would be more interesting.

  4. Don’t tell that to Trump. His reason for being would cease to exist. I don’t think he could handle it.

  5. Has everyone stocked up on popcorn and Schadenfreude 2016? Going to be an interesting week.
