Harvey Milk Stamp Will Be First To Feature An Openly Gay Elected Official

Officials are considering San Francisco and Washington, D.C. as potential opening day cities, according to Linns.

Milk was the first openly gay official to person to be elected to a political office in California. He won a seat on San Francisco's Board of Supervisors in 1977, and was assassinated in 1978 by a former city supervisor.
