Add “human leech” to Democrats’ arsenal of insults to hurl at Donald Trump.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) had some choice words for Trump in a speech on the Senate floor Thursday, calling him “a spoiled brat” and a “human leech who will bleed the country.”
Reid brought up a bombshell Newsweek article that reported Trump has such an extensive web of business ties in various countries that they “cannot be resolved,” with almost no foreign policy decision in a potential Trump administration untainted by Trump Organization interests. After reading quotes from the article, Reid said it showed Trump was dangerous and a “con artist.”
“We face this from Donald Trump, a candidate, a notorious con artist,” Reid said. “Donald Trump is only trying to help one person— Donald Trump. I don’t care if he wants to be president or city commissioner, Donald Trump is out to benefit Donald Trump.”
Reid then went into a common battle cry for Democrats: the failures of Trump University. He used this to paint Trump as a “spoiled brat” and someone who throws money at his problems.
“Let’s be clear about Donald Trump. He’s a spoiled brat raised in plenty who inherited a fortune, used his money to make more money, and he did a lot of it by swindling working men and women,” Reid said. “Why would he change as president? The answer is simple: Trump won’t change.”
He also took issue with Trump’s comments following a visit to Flint, Michigan, where a pastor interrupted him to ask him not to give a political speech. Trump later said the pastor was “playing games” with him.
“Trump is a human leech who will bleed the country and sit at his golf resort laughing at the money he has made, even though working people have been hurt and ruined,” Reid said. “Trump doesn’t understand the middle class. How could he? How could he understand working people, because he’s only out for Donald Trump.”
