He’s out of prison and former congressman Michael Grimm (R-NY) is not ruling out running for Congress again.

In an interview with NY1 (and still wearing an ankle bracelet because he is still under house arrest), Grimm hinted he may make a political comeback.

“I can’t ever see myself not, in some capacity, serving the community, whether it’s as a volunteer, or as in office again. So I really don’t know yet,” Grimm said “Nothing’s off the table.”

Grimm pleaded guilty in 2014 to tax fraud, resigned from Congress in 2015 and served about seven months in prison. Grimm told NY1 that “it’s a horrible experience. I wouldn’t wish it on my enemies,” but said he did not really feel he’d done anything wrong.

“I don’t think there’s anything that I’ve ever done that I would say I’m really ashamed of,” Grimm told NY1. “Did I have a couple people off the books? Yeah. So does a lot of people. It’s not the end of the world. It’s something I put behind me and will move on.”

Grimm made headlines in 2014 for threatening to throw a NY1 reporter over a balcony after President Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech, but he’d had a long history of making threats. When he was still an FBI agent, he threatened a customer at a night club whose ex-wife he was with.

“I’ll fuckin’ make him disappear where nobody will find him,” Grimm said according to a New Yorker story.

But none of it has stopped Grimm from seeking office before. Even after he was indicted, Grimm won his re-election in Staten Island in 2014.
