Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) said Monday that he doesn’t want President Barack Obama to be impeached over the Republican-led investigation into last year’s attack in Benghazi, Libya, but the Utah Republican isn’t ready to take the option “off the table.”
“It’s certainly a possibility,” Chaffetz said, as quoted by the Salt Lake Tribune. “That’s not the goal but given the continued lies perpetrated by this administration, I don’t know where it’s going to go. … I’m not taking it off the table. I’m not out there touting that but I think this gets to the highest levels of our government and integrity and honesty are paramount.”
Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) last week called Benghazi the “most egregious cover-up in American history” and predicted that Obama will soon be facing calls of impeachment.
“People may be starting to use the I-word before too long,” Inhofe said.
