During the Fox Business undercard debate Thursday, Carly Fiorina was asked to weigh in on the fact that the majority of Americans support universal background checks.

She dismissed the polling with a laugh.

“We all believe the poll data all the time, don’t we?” Florina said sarcastically.

Florina has been an outspoken critic of the president’s executive actions on guns announced earlier this month, but her dismissal of polling data also sounded like a rebuff of the same data that kept her off the main debate stage Thursday.

During an NPR interview aired Thursday morning, Fiorina disagreed with using close polling to set the debate stage. “Analytically, I don’t think it’s defensible,” she said.

“I mean, the polls are not this precise. I think this is what happens when the RNC outsources decision-making to the media and the media decides they want a show,” Fiorina said.
