A University of Central Florida professor became the subject of a complaint this week by the Council on American-Islamic Relations for teaching anti-Muslim rhetoric, including that members of the religion are taught to hate “from the cradle.”

Jonathan Matusitz teaches a course called Terrorism and Communication. He scoffed at the complaint in an interview Wednesday with Orlando, Fla., television station WFTV.

“I think they’re wrong,” Matusitz said. “I think they’re afraid of truth-tellers and they want to stifle free speech.”

CAIR filed the formal complaint to the university, claiming that Matusitz disseminated “inaccurate information,” “anti-Muslim bigotry,” and “hostility in the form of hate speech toward Islam and Muslims.”
