Dick Durbin this week voted in a Senate committee in favor of a resolution authorizing military force but restricting it to 90 days and barring American ground troops from combat. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate, said Sunday that Democrats have not yet decided that an extension for longterm unemployment benefits must be part of the budget deal.

“I don’t think we’ve reached that point where we’ve said, ‘This is it. Take it or leave it,'” Durbin said about the budget agreement on ABC’s “This Week.”

However, he said he would like to see Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) include the benefits extension in the deal.

“I certainly hope, as part of it, that the negotiators will take to heart what the President had to say,” Durbin said. “There are working families across America that are struggling.”
