Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Sunday that he thought the Middle East would be more stable if Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gadhafi were still in power.

“It’s not even a contest,” he said.

Trump continued to say, “It’s not even a contest. Iraq is a disaster. And ISIS — Don’t forget. ISIS came out of Iraq.”

NBC “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd interrupted Trump and asked him outright if he thought the Middle East would be better off with the two leaders in power.

“Of course it would be,” Trump said. “You wouldn’t have had your Benghazi situation which is one thing which was just a terrible situation. But, of course, it would. Libya is — is not even — nobody even knows what’s going on over there. It’s not even a country anymore.”
