The same day Donald Trump’s campaign cancelled his appearance at the Heritage Action Presidential Forum, the candidate released a policy paper on his plan to expand gun rights Friday.
The paper, dubbed “Protecting Our Second Amendment Rights Will Make America Great Again,” calls for an end to gun and magazine bans and nationwide concealed carry permits.
Trump’s plan would also end the ban on carrying guns on military bases and recruiting centers, presumably a response to the July shootings at military sites in Chattanooga, Tenn. that left four Marines dead.
Trump’s website currently only includes one other policy paper under the “positions” section, which is Trump’s treatise on immigration.
Surprised they had time today. What with that YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE business deal and all.
That’s right, The biggest problem in America today is too few guns.
BANG! Right?
A question for any constitutional experts out there-Can the federal government really forbid states to ban certain types of guns or ammunition?
It’s not a particularly well-written policy paper. Much of it reads as if it came from one of Trump’s improvised speeches. I can’t imagine that he doesn’t have some educated, thoughtful individuals running his campaign - so I have to surmise that it was meant to appeal to the reasoning level of Trump’s supporters.
