Donald Trump on Tuesday took aim at Club For Growth, launching a late-night Twitter feud between the Republican presidential candidate and the conservative group.
Trump began the fight out of the blue by noting that he once turned down a Club for Growth request for a donation.
The president of the pathetic Club For Growth came to my office in N.Y.C. and asked for a ridiculous $1,000,000 contribution. I said no way!

When I intelligently turned down The Club For Growth crazy request for $1,000,000, they got nasty. What a waste of money that would have been

But the organization challenged Trump’s version of the story.
Actually @realDonaldTrump asked for that mtg & then asked for races he could support. Thought he could buy us off. Worst Kind of Politician

In a second tweet responding to Trump, the Club for Growth said it criticized the real estate mogul’s “liberal policies” in 2011, linking to an op-ed declaring, “Donald Trump has taken policy positions that will make it impossible for him to win over conservatives in a Republican primary.” The op-ed, written by the group’s then-president Chris Chocola, criticizes Trump’s tax proposals and positions on health care.
Hours later on Wednesday morning, Club for Growth published another tweet hitting Trump for his past support of Democrats.
If Trump really wanted to make America great again he wouldn’t have spent so much $ to put Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid in control of Congress.
