Democratic state Sen. Katherine Clark handily defeated her opponents Tuesday in a low-turnout special election to fill Sen. Ed Markey’s (D-MA) vacated U.S. House seat, the Boston Globe reported.

Clark could be sworn in as early as Thursday, according to the Globe.
