Connecticut Gov. Dannel Molloy said Thursday the state would ban people on federal terrorism watch lists from buying guns, The New York Times reported.

The executive action would make Molloy the first governor in the nation to take such a step.

“Like all Americans, I have been horrified by the recent terrorist attacks in San Bernardino and Paris,” Malloy told the Times.

He continued: “This should be a wake-up call to all of us. This is a moment to seize in America — and today I’m here to say that we in Connecticut are seizing it.”
