Fox Host: President Obama ‘Owes The Jews Of Europe An Apology’

Former White House press secretary Dana Perino discusses President Barack Obama's Vox interview on Fox News' "The Five" Feb. 10, 2015.

Former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said Tuesday that the Obama administration “owes the Jews of Europe an apology” for suggesting that the four victims of the Paris kosher grocery attack were targeted “randomly.”

In an interview posted by the news site Vox on Monday, Obama made reference to “violent, vicious zealots who behead people or randomly shoot a bunch of folks in a deli in Paris,” an apparent reference to the fatal shooting of four shoppers at a Kosher deli.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest then appeared to defend the characterization, saying that the victims were killed “not because of who they were, but where they randomly happened to be.” He later tweeted: “Terror attack at Paris Kosher market was motivated by anti-Semitism. POTUS didn’t intend to suggest otherwise.”

During a discussion of the the incident on the Fox News show “The Five,” Perino said it left her “nearly unable to breathe.”

“I actually think the President owes the Jews of Europe an apology,” Perino said. “They deserve better from the President of the United States. Antisemitism is on the rise, and somebody must stick up for them.”

Co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle then urged Perino to “take it a step further,” asking: “How about the Jews of the world deserve an apology?”

  1. Unspeakably vile.

But I must ask: Are all the Jews killed by the Crusaders on their way to kill Moslems among the ones to whom Obama should apologize?

In his remarks, the president condemned the official anti-Semitism of foreign governments such as Iran.“And that includes confronting a rising tide of anti-Semitism around the world. We’ve seen attacks on Jews in the streets of major Western cities, public places marred by swastikas. From some foreign governments we hear the worst kinds of anti-Semitic scapegoating. In Ukraine, as Steven mentioned, we saw those disgusting pamphlets from masked men calling on Jews to register. And tragically, we saw a shooting here at home, in Overland Park in Kansas.

“And it would be tempting to dismiss these as isolated incidents, but if the memories of the Shoah survivors teach us anything, it is that silence is evil’s greatest co-conspirator. And it’s up to us — each of us, every one of us — to forcefully condemn any denial of the Holocaust. It’s up to us to combat not only anti-Semitism, but racism and bigotry and intolerance in all their forms, here and around the world. It’s up to us to speak out against rhetoric that threatens the existence of a Jewish homeland and to sustain America’s unshakeable commitment to Israel’s security.
