Host Trevor Noah called out Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) opportunism to score political points after the deadly terrorist attacks in Brussels, calling Cruz a “sanctimonious jackass” on Thursday night’s episode.
“Ted Cruz, first off, you’re a sanctimonious jackass,” Noah said. “Second of all, President Obama doesn’t need to go to Belgium to for them to know he’s an ally. It’s not like all the European presidents went to Belgium after the attacks and they’re within driving distance.”
Plus, Noah asked, who wants house guests after a tragedy?
“Seriously,” Noah asked Cruz, “Why are you exploiting a terrorist attack in Brussels to tell a U.S. president how long he can visit Cuba?
Watch the clip, from Comedy Central, below:
Ted Cruz can’t fart without being sanctimonious about it.
As it stands, while President Obama has been in Cuba and Argentina, word came out this morning that our Spec-Ops forces have taken out the No. 2 ISIS commander in Syria. So why exactly did the President need to cancel his trip to come home to the US again?
As usual, they underestimate our Commander-in-Chief on all matters of terrorism. The President knows better than most how to address these issues and go after the perpetrators of these crimes. Unlike Cruz, he doesn’t need to posture for the cameras.
Osama bin Laden anyone? How quickly Cruz and his ilk tend to forget.
The comment system here is still a mess. I just clicked on another post and I’m signed in here and on the homepage, but not signed in there. When I click on “Sign In to Comment” I get a white page with a spinner that spins endlessly.
I wonder how many thousands and thousands of dollars TPM has spent on a fab home made comment system that didn’t work at the beginning after months of no comments while someone was inventing it. Remember when it had two tiers of comments, the first one displaying a couple of comments and the rest just spinners or please waits or whatever, and a second tier with a different name for no reason, plus a lot of other strangeness. Eventually it was more or less straightened out except for the weird repetition of everything over there on the right for no reason.
Then recently the whole thing went in the toilet, saying you can’t post an identical comment after not even posting a comment for weeks but then posting it anyway etc. Then it half came back and here we are.
I wonder how much TPM could have saved by buying something off the shelf that actually makes sense and works.
No Drama Obama gets 'er done, while Ted just bloviates. I think we have the best President in decades right now. Hillary is going to have some really big shoes to fill.
We have that problem since yesterday. Reloading a couple of times (sometimes more) often gets you logged back on. Clearing the cache also helps. Darr reported the problem to Josh… hopefully they will resolve it as soon as… we dont’ know when!
